抄録（英）：
Wave propagation characteristics of vertical earthquake ground motions in layered ground are investigated using seismograms observed in vertical instrument arrays. In the first part, it has been confirmed that P-waves converted from incident SV-wave, which strongly influence vertical motions in upper ground, are produced at ground boundaries near the baserock. In the second part, it has been discussed that the existence of ground with the intensive variation of wave-impedance adjacent surface causes the large amplification of peak acceleration.
