One- and two-dimensional seismic response analyses are conducted on the ground models of the three sites: Sagara, Numazu and Matsuzaki, where densely installed strong motion arrays are developed. The results are compared with the recorded data in terms of the maximum acceleration, the spectrum intensity and the response acceleration spectrum, to see the effect of irregular geological conditions on the accuracy of ground motion amplification estimated by the seismic analysis. The comparison results show that two-dimensional analyses reproduce the amplification phenomena with better accuracy than one-dimensional analyses, but that small inaccuracy remains when irregularity of ground condition is severe.
