A simple model is used in this paper to approximate the interface shape of soft alluvial valleys. Parametric study is carried out to determine the areas where there appears big difference between two-dimensional waves motions and one-dimensional wave motions, which is defined as that there is heterogeneity of soft alluvial valleys. Formulation of the heterogeneity of soft alluvial valleys is carried out in the determined areas, and the heterogeneity index is proposed to consider the effect of the heterogeneity of alluvial vallyes. The proposed index is proposed to be directly encoded into the current aseismic design code to consider the effect of the heterogeneity of alluvial vallyes. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
