Stochastic finite element analysis based on first-order approximation is applied to the estimation of spatial variation of r.m.s. power in random field using a recorded earthquake ground motion. Applicability of the first-order approximation to the analysis of earthquake ground motion is discussed in the comparison with Monte Calro simulation. Sensitivity analysis of dynamic properties of finite elements and input motion is performed, which gives suggestions to improve the accuracy in the estimation of r.m.s. power and is demonstrated in the numerical analysis.
