The characteristics of seismic wave propagation and amplification of long-period ground motion in the Tokyo Metropolitan area were clarified based on the seismometer array data. The later phases consisting of long-period components after principal motions are greatly influenced by deep underground structure not only in the plain but also including the out of plain and regional difference of source. The prediction of the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 was carried out based on the characteristics obtained from observed records. The strength of predicted ground motion is in harmony with that of restored earthquake records. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
