Seismic hazard maps of Hokkaido Island. Northern Japan are indicated based on the data of questionnaire intensity surveys. In 1993 two big damaging earthquakes of Kushiro-oki and Hokkaido Nansei-oki occurred in Hokkaido and seismic intensity surveys were carried out in order to get precise intensity distributions. The results of these surveys are listed and regional characteristics are extracted by use of a spatial filtering technique. Maps indicating regional ground conditions and attenuation characteristics are presented. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
