An earthquake occurred to the south of the Guam island on August 8, 1993. In this report, the damage of reinforced concrete buildings caused by this earthquake is described. The two kinds of failure were often observed. One is failure of expansion joint due to the collision of two separated portions of the building because of a shortage of clearance between them. The second is shear failure of short columns and coupling beams between two shear walls due to the concentration of stress. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
