In 1993 Kushiro-Oki earthquake, we had damages to underground telecommunication facilities, such as Manholes, conduits and cable, caused by ground motion and ground deformation. Especially, it was obvious that most of damages on the facilities occured along the National Highway Route 391 and 38, due to ground deformation, such as landslide of bank and settlement of approach bank of abutment. Therefore we have estimated the settlement of bank and approach bank of abutment respectively, and investigated the potential of liquefaction along the Route 391 and 38, in the central area of Kushiro city. And also we have investigated the effect of settlement of bank and approach bank of abutment on underground telecommunication facilities.
