Effects of the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake on the transportation systems in the San Francisco Bay Area are presented. Emphasis is placed on the impact of the. closure of the Bay Bridge on the traffic through the other cross-bay bridges as well as its interaction with the BART ridership.
