An opportunity to observe seismic data of a pile group foundation occured when an earthquake took place at the site of a series of hybrid experiments. The mechanical characteristics of the pile group foundation were determined through static and dynamic tests, and the results used to formulate mathematical models for a soil-foundation interaction mechanism. The models obtained were later used in hybrid experiments as well as in studies of the interaction between the foundation and soil during the observed earthquake. Differences in the ground motions recorded at the foundation during the earthquake and at a free-field site were investigated. When these differences were compared to motions computed by use of the constructed models on measured dynamic characteristics during analytical simulation some correlation was recognized. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
