ELASTO-PLASTIC RESPONSE ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURE WITH ECCENTRICITY SUBJECTED TO TORSIONAL GROUND EXCITATION
|
´˜^i‰pjF
Elasto-plastic response of a structure with eccentricity on a rigid foundation embedded into an elastic half space subjected to a horizontally travelling earthquake motion is analyzed in time domain. A mathematical model in this analysis is composed of an upper structure supported by four elasto-plastic columns on a rigid square foundation and elastic soil ground. Concluding remarks from response analysis are : (1) In case of a slightly interacted structure with soil ground, torsional deformation of an upper structure is suppressed by its elasto-plastic energy dissipation. (2) Torsional ground excitation affects torsional deformation of a foundation sensitively. On the other hand, torsional deformation of an upper structure is influenced mainly by the natural period of the first torsional mode.
