Shaking table tests were performed to study an earthquake-induced uplift of semi-buried structures. Safety factors were calculated in two ways using recorded excess pore pressures, and a permanent deformation analysis was conducted to examine its applicability. Included are a prototype diffusion analysis of an excess pore pressure to evaluate an uplift of the structure and a proposed design procedure.
