Cyclic simple shear tests are carried out to study the coefficients of earth pressure during cyclic shear C¡ and C¡ for dry and saturated sands. Kjellman's type shear box fixed on a shaking table was used in the tests. C¡ is defined by the ratio of horizontal stress to vertical stress induced in the sand during cyclic shear, and C¡ the ratio of minor or intermediate principal stress to major principal stress. From the test results the changes of C¡ and C¡ for the dry sand with number of cycles n, the direction of the shear stress, and horizontal seismic coefficient kh are presented. Also the apparent decrease of the internal friction angle of the sand due to shaking is recognized. Similarly in the case of the saturated sand the changes of C¡ and C¡, with n are presented. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
