Based on the heterogeneous faulting model, we synthesized the wide-frequency-band strong ground motions during large earthquakes using the Empirical Green's Function Method (EGFM). Irikura(1990) extended the EGFM for the heterogeneous faulting such as the asperity model. Here we show that the synthetics for the asperity model are in good agreement with the observed seismograms for the 1980 Izu-Hanto-Toho-Oki earthquake with M¡ = 6.7 not only at an epicentral distance much longer than the fault length but at a distance shorter than the fault length. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
