One of the most important features of the March 3, 1985 earthquake was the behavior of the moderate-rise reinforced concrete buildings in Vina del Mar. A strong ground motion occurred in Vina del Mar, but only a few buildings sustained serious structural damage. In this paper the general characteristics of the building inventory in the city are described. The results and conclusions of detailed analyses of the three most severely damaged buildings - Acapulco, El Faro, and Hanga Roa - an one undamaged building -Torres del Sol- are presented herein. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
