The inelastic behavior of two low-rise reinforced concrete buildings in the Transition Zone in Mexico city, which were structurally identical and suffered moderate damage to structures by the earthquake of September 1985, was investigated. Based on some analyses of their seismic capacity and response to the simulated earthquake motion, the failure mechanism and capacity of members and structural systems, reasons for the structural damage and the appropriateness of the proposed strengthening methods were discussed. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
