Hybrid procedure is developed in order to analyze behavior of buried pipelines in soil liquefaction process. This procedure presented herein consists of ground response evaluation using finite element method and pipe response analysis using transfer matrix method. Rise of ground water table induced by dissipation of excess pore water pressure is considered in the former evaluation. Numerical example shows that unsaturated sand layer around pipelines liquefies due to the rise of ground water table and accumulation of excess pore water pressure. It becomes evident from the present study that response characteristics of buried pipelines change in the liquefaction process. It is conceivable that it could make a difference to failure mechanism of buried pipelines whether the excess pore water pressure is low or high. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
