A gravel pile method has been used for preventing the liquefaction of saturated sand deposit. Therefore in a previous paper (O-hara et al. (1986)) we investigated the effects of the gravel pile on liquefaction, theoretically and experimentally. In the theoretical investigation, the saturated sand deposit 20m in thickness, installed a gravel pile, is presumed and the changes in pore water pressure induced in this deposit during an earthquake are calculated, solving the consolidation equation. It has been recognized in the previous paper that these calculated values well agree with the experimental results. The effect of the gravel pile on the liquefaction of the sand deposit was revealed through this study. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
