It is shown that the maximum value of pore pressure ratio for the gravel drains under sinusoidal cyclic loadings coincides with the steady state value of the pore pressure ratio for most of the practicing situations. Based on this fact, a simple procedure to determine the spacing ratio between the gravel drains was derived. Also was given a suggestion for appropriate selection of the wave form of the target earthquake motions.
