Architectural Institute of Japan sent a forty-one member team to investigate the damage from the September 19, 1985, Mexican Earthquake. A part of the team visited the epicentral region. This paper briefly describes the characteristics of the damage on buildings in the epicentral region. Statistical data were obtained about the number of buildings and the damage levels.
