A study is made of the seismic response of an elastic structure in an alluvial valley of arbitrary shape under the action of obliquely incident SH, P, and SV waves. Two kinds of soil-structure interaction systems are considered and analyzed by using the method of boundary integral equation. The numerical results for the responses of two-dimensional soilstructure system show that the more closely the structure is located at the edge of the alluvial valley, the more pronounced the effect of angle of incidence of SH waves on the displacerment amplitude of the structure becomes. The numerical results for the responses of three-dimensional soil-structure interaction system on the alluvial valley indicate that the structural responses of the system subjected to plane SV waves are more amplified than those to plane P waves and are insensitive to the angle of incidence of SV waves. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
