This study is concerned with the harmonic responses of a rigid massless foundation of arbitrary shape embedded in a semi-infinite elastic body subjected to the action of obliquely incident plane SH, P and SV waves and Rayleigh wave. Numerical solutions are obtained for the impedance matrix and the foundation input motion of a rigid hemispherical foundation. The Boundary Element Method which utilizes the fundamental solutions satisfying the free surface conditions completely is employed for this purpose. Some of the results obtained are compared with the closed-form solutions and with other numerical solutions available to show the validity of this numerical method. Some new results are also presented for the input motion to various types of seismic excitations. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
