A simple model is proposed to predict undrained stress-strain behaviour of saturated dense sands subjected to irregular loading based on the behaviours under uniform cyclic loading. By using this model, the time history of shear strain amplitude for a given random loading pattern can be readily predicted in addition to the prediction of the maximum shear strain amplitude. So far, the validity of this model have been checked by using the data of very simple irregular loading tests in which the amplitudes of sinusoidal wave were gradually increased and/or decreased. In this study, random loading tests in which recorded earthquake acceleration time histories were used as input irregular loading patterns in undrained torsional shear tests. The test results showed that the method can well predict the time history of shear strain amplitude for two irregular loading patterns which were of shock-type and of vibration type. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
