The objective of this paper is to investigate possible correlations between the shaking intensities obtained during the 1978 Miyagiken-oki earthquake and their microtremors. In order to accomplish this purpose, a map showing the shaking intensities was examined and field measurements of microtremor ground motions were carried out at some sites in Sendai city. In addition to these analyses, a strong-motion earthquake accelerogram was investigated to discuss deeply. The microtremor motions were analyzed in terms of Fourier spectrum, rms value, and so on. It is concluded that a good correlation was found between the microtremor characteristics and the shaking intensities. A little discussion was also made about the reason leading such a conclusion. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
