An earthquake of a Richter maguitude 6.8 took place in Eastern Anatolia, Turkey on September 6, 1975 at 12.20 local time (9.20 GMT). Its epicentral coordinates were 38.50 N and 40.8 E and it caused a loss of lives of 2385, in jury to 3339 persons, damage to 8159 buildings a total collopse or damage beyond repair. Total number of damaged buildings were 19992 (1,2,3) This was one of the most total 7 or 8 earthquakes experienced in Turkey during the lost fifty years.
