Presented is a method for evaluating inelastic response properties of reinforced concrete structures subjected to random ground motion utilizing equivalent linearization procedure. A first order differential equation governing the time variation of mean square response to nonstationary random ground motion is derived. The results from the proposed analytical method are in good agreement with those from time domain response simulation.
