There are some trends toward the unification of European countries codes and co-ordination of research work. In this study available earthquake resistance regulations of European countries are classified and compared from the view point of design methods for earthquake influences. Which factors in each country's regulations and of what magnitude are considered, what similarities and dissimilarities exist among them, to which factors importance is attributed are examined and compared. The results are given in a tabulated from for easy reference as well as for comparison and for use in preparation of new codes and of a unified code for European countries.
