For lifeline earthquake engineering, simple procedures are being developed for estimating earthquake-induced relative displacement and ground strain, taking into account the extent of the lifeline and the site geology. Observed earthquake data are examined and the separation distance between points on the lifeline is found to be an important parameter, due to the dispersive nature of wave propagation in the ground. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
