Based on the epicentres of more than 1000 microearthquakes recorded during the years 1965-1974 which were located by a close network of seismological observatories for a river valley project, a well marked seismicity gap has been demarcated in Himachal Pradesh. Considering the regional plate tectonics and the past history of damaging earthquakes namely, Kangra (1905) and Kinnaur (1975) with their epicentres located near the western and eastern margins of the seismic gap, this area could now be a zone of a damaging earthquake of estimated magnitude 7.5. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
