After the 1993 Off Kushiro earthquake, Japan, the authors made a household questionnaire survey to investigate extents of indoor damage, injury occurrences, risk of fires and occupants' responses together with seismic intensity distribution. In the Kushiro district, total of 9813 questionnaires are obtained via schools. This paper proposes a model to correlate interior damage index (IDI) to human casualty and fire risks and conducts discriminant analyses to classify risk and no risk households. The resulting equations indicate that casualty risk is affected by IDI and blackout duration, and fire risk by IDI and fire devices in use. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
