抄録（英）：
On July 12, 1993, the southwest Hokkaido was heavily shaken by a very strong earthquake. On the JMA scale, its magnitude was 7.8. Its epicenter was located at 139■ 12' E and 42■ 47' N. Damage caused by this earthquake appeared in fishery facilities, earth structures and various lifelines. We investigated the damage caused by liquefaction and studies of the physical properties of the liquefied sands. We concluded that the boiled materials consist of fine sands with silt and there is a correlation between the distance from the epicenter to liquefied points and particle size distributions of boiled sand.
