During the recent earthquake, volcanic debris avalanche deposit containing a great amount of large size gravels did liquefy causing damages to more than fifty houses in the southern part of Hokkaido. A systematic site investigation has been canted out in one of the liquefied sites to geologically and geotechnically characterize the site and to investigate the cause of the liquefaction. It has been found that the layer with the gravel content of about 80 percent is so loosely deposited that its shear wave velocity is as low as 60 to 90 m/s indicating that this gravelly layer is of quite different nature from those normally encountered in engineering design. キーワード(英): - 記事区分 - 区分    委員会論文集
