In the present study the characteristics of ground strains during three recent earthquake are investigated. These events, with magnitudes ranging from 6.0 to 7.9 seem to have substantially different characteristics which have great effects on the engineering properties of ground strains. The behaviour of ground strains are compared with those of ground acceleration, velocity and displacement. Ground strains are evaluated by using acceleration data obtained by a very dense seismograph array system. The effects of several factors on the evaluated strains are discussed. ƒL[ƒ[ƒhi‰pjF - ‹LŽ–‹æ•ªF - ‹æ•ª @@@ˆÏˆõ‰ï˜_•¶W
