抄録（英）：
The channels in the port of Tokyo, a megapolis, have been developed as secondarily needed or on a planned basis, primary for the transportation of goods from the port. In view of the decreasing volume of goods transported in the channel and the promotion of measures for hightides and earthquakes in recent years, however, changes in the function of the channels have been observed:environmental consideration been given to the frontal waters beyond the channels. In parallel, the revetments of the channels have been changing in shape. This papaer discusses the development of the channels and the changes in channels environment and revetment shape. It also addresses future tasks to improving the channel environment.
