1993年グアム島地震の地盤被害調査報告

抄録（和）：
グアム島近海で発生した大地震の地盤被害状況を報告する｡グアム島の表層は石灰岩の露頭と火山起源の締った赤土からなり､軟弱地盤はほとんどない｡かなりの震動が1分間続いたが被害は意外なほど小さかった｡建築物も､一部例外を除き､構造的損傷は軽微であった｡その理由として､地盤が固いこと､設計風荷重が水平方向に大きいことが､想定される｡土構造に関しては､盛土に軽い変形があった他に､埋立地で液状化が見られた｡しかしその規模は小さく､液状化層厚が薄いと､考えている｡

This is a reconnaissance report on geotechnical effects of 1993 Guam earthquake.The island of Guam is composed of limestone outcrops together with hard soils of volcanic origin.Soft alluvium lies in limited places.In spite of the significant seismic magnitude and the close location of its epicenter,the earthquake did not induce a substantial damage to superstructures.The reason for this appears to be the good ground condition,the minor thickness of soft surface layer of soils,and the intense level of design wind load in the horizontal direction.Liquefaction occurred in coastal fills.Its intensity was limited because of the minor thickness of liquefiable sandy layers.
