Method of Lee and Trifunac (1985;1987) for the synthetic generation of translational, trsional and rocking accelerograms has been generalized to enable computation of strains at ground surface during passage of strong earthquake ground waves. Variations of strain with time resemble ground velocity components in corresponding directions.
