抄録（英）：
This paper presents a dynamic response analysis of a nonproportional damping system. Emphasis is placed upon evaluations of seismic response analyses of nonproportional damping systems by means of the response spectrum method. The square-root-sum-of-squares method causes gross errors which are derived from neglecting the modal coupling effects of the nonproportinal damping system with modes of closely spaced frequencies. Accordingly, an alternative modal combination procedure, which provides more accurate responses for the nonproportinal damping system such as situations, is developed. Each modal combination method that is being discussed is evaluated by comparing results with a direct time integration results, i.e. by a Newmak's beta method.
