本報告は, わが国の地盤上で得られた多数の強震記録を重回帰分析し, 地震動加速度の継続時間を3種類の地盤種別ごとに, 地震のマグニチュードM,震央距離 の関数として求める回帰式を提案したものである. ここで継続時間は, 最大加速 の出現する時刻 を基準とし, このα{(0＜α＜1)の加速度( ) が最初に出現する時刻を , これが最後に出現する時刻を として, および として定義した. 係数αは0.1 〜0.9 まで0.1 刻みで9段階に変化させた.

Multiple regression analysis of duration of earthquake ground acceleration are presented. Duration is defind as the time interval between the time when accleration amplitude firstly exceeds α (0<α<1) of peak ground acceleration and the time when acceleration amplitude become less than α times of peak ground acceleration in the last. Employed were 394 components of horizontal strong motion acceleration records obtaioned at 67 free field sites in Japan. Empirical formulae of of the durations in terms of earthquake magnitude and epicentral distance are propose for three subsoil conditions.
