Recently underground pipelines have been constructed in the places wherelarge ground settlement could occur. And many underground pipelines destroyed by the ground settlement due to liquefaction and so on in the past earthquakes. In designing underground pipelines, ground settlement is considered to be one of the most important problems. In view of these facts, ground settlement which hasinfluence on underground pipelines was classified into 3 patterns. And for the most critical pattern both analytical and experimental investigations wereexecuted. As the result were confirmed the effectiveness of not only the proposed basic countermeasure for the critical ground settlement pattern but the adaptation of the linear analytical solution to the nonlinear region of ground spring.
